4.28.2020: Below is the link for finding the area and perimeter of polygons in the coordinate plane. I will post an assignment to follow. As for the video, it's almost 9 minutes long and you can tell I'm still a novice at this skill. Please bear with me.
4.23.2020: I noticed some folks struggling with one of the assignments. The button has a video link that takes you through the process to correctly answer the questions.
4.21.2020: Today's lesson and assignment cover the general form of the equation of a circle to standard form. Please excuse the screenshare - I'm playing with different formats.
4.16.2020: Here is our latest Zoom meeting. It would be nice to have some more participants.
4.14.2020: Here are a couple videos on writing the equation of a circle from the graph.
|
4.13.2020: The links above to the two videos are for developing the equation of a circle. One has the center at the origin, the other has the center anywhere on the coordinate plane. Sorry for the video quality, the webcam on our laptops must not be high quality. I will try my phone for the next one.

Howdy students and parents,
Let’s go over what we know:
Let’s talk about the not so black-and-white implications:
I am expecting for school to resume as normal come August. That means that you will have math classes again. If you pass the Geometry course, then you will move onto the Algebra 2 course. Since there was some unfinished content from this year, it would be in your best interest to try and stay current with any new material I give you. I will likely do some type of a semester review just to remind you of what we have done. You may need this knowledge for subsequent math courses.
I had put in some grades during that first week we were out of school. That Thursday, teachers were told to not touch the gradebook retroactive to March 13. Well I already had, so I will be taking those grades out. This is to get a snapshot of your grades on March 13. This will happen by Monday, April 5. See what your grade is that time. I will then put the grades back in the gradebook – as long as the affect your grade positively. Your grade at the end of the year cannot be lower than it was as of March 13, only the same or higher.
I miss you guys and will be doing more Zooms to see your lovely faces (or at least to hear your lovely voices). There will be a new schedule for the rest of the year. We will have two meeting times each week. For example, first period will have a four-hour block of time on Monday morning and a two-hour block on Thursday afternoon. I will probably post a lesson in the morning block, be available to answer questions during that time period, and host a live-Zoom during the afternoon session.
I think it is important that we stay connected during these last two months. I hope you feel the same.
Much love,
Pillow
Let’s go over what we know:
- school as we know it as cancelled for the rest of the school year
- distance learning is still to take place for the rest of the school year
- students may choose to take the grade they had as of March 13 of this year or continue to work to improve their grades
- any work turned in can only positively affect a student’s grade
